The recreational market continues to grow in terms of dollars, kilograms, legal jurisdictions and technology. One thing we’ll always be able to look forward to is the ever-changing variety of cultivars.

Companies are jockeying for shelf space flooded by low quality product. A wave of craft producers like Carmel, Reef, MTL Canna and Msiku are disrupting the industry with terpene-rich offerings and an attention to detail unattainable when profit is the only motive.

As competition heats up customers reap the benefits. Larger bag sizes like the traditional ounce are becoming more common, downward pressure on prices means quality is becoming more accessible and the terms ‘hand-trimmed’ and ‘hang-dried’ have become must-haves.

It is extremely fashionable to criticize the Canadian cannabis industry for poor quality, overpriced buds or poorly cured concentrates. It isn’t everything we hoped for as consumers but as the market grows it seems to be finding a way.

My primary goal with Stash is to showcase the beauty and variety of the legal recreational market. It gives us all something to show our friends and family we don’t have to keep in a smell-proof container.

Recently a secondary goal has emerged and that is to help identify those organizations who really have the consumer’s best interests at heart. Our stories in this volume have aimed to do just that.

As always, we hope you enjoyed this volume as much as we enjoyed making it.
