Blkmkt, a craft cannabis grower from Alberta, has yet to miss on any of their numerous releases and their latest, called Purple Rain, is no exception. With a sweet berry aroma, purple marbling, 29% THC and 3.75% terpenes this soft and sticky cannabis bud is a connoisseur’s treat.
At just over $50 with taxes included at the Ontario Cannabis Store, Purple Rain by Blkmkt hits enough of the right notes to justify its price point. If there was anything missing with this weed it would be complexity. The sweet berry aroma comes across about as purple as purple can get, which is fine if that’s what you’re into. The nugs are sticky and have a great bounce back when compressed slightly. The high is euphoric and properly numbing while the smooth smoke leaves a thin film of that purple sugar smoke on your palette.
The digital microscope reveals tangles of milky and amber trichomes coating the bracts. Anthocyanin, which gives the plant its purple hues, abounds and provides a dramatic backdrop for the beautifully developed cannabinoids. The density of those trichomes is reflected in a joint: white ash and a thick resin ring are a sure sign of a quality, clean smoke.
